As someone with a post secondary degree and a couple designations under my belt, I always stress the importance of hiring qualified professionals to my clients. Now that I’m in full fledged “working Mom” mode, I thought it might be good to highlight the importance of having your own professional, qualified personal team of specialists- because we all can’t be authority in everything, and sometimes it does take a village.
Find an Accountant you click with
There are thousands of CPA’s out there, but likely only a handful that are qualified, care about your long term goals, and are willing to put in the extra effort to get you there. I’ve made the mistake in the past of hiring some dodgey Accountants, and I’ve literally and figuratively paid for it. Make sure you find one that is legitimate, certified, and someone you can trust with all your tax planning needs. I use these guys and highly recommend them.
Get a Lawyer you can be honest with
When you’re going into business for yourself it’s always a good idea to have a lawyer you can call up whenever you have any legal questions. I wouldn’t recommend calling them, you know, just to chat, because you’ll receive a bill for the 17 minute conversation, but knowing they’re there will give you peace of mind and confidence. I’ve used this firm in the past and will undoubtedly use them again in the future.
Beauty pros are a must
While I am a strong advocate of women’s lib and most things feminism, I’m still a woman in business and need to be presented and received in a respectful manner. That’s why I cannot recommend the following entrepreneurs and beauty femme fatales enough, as they have brought me back to life over the past couple of months:
- Alanna Widgiz- http://www.alannawidgiz.com/
- Jessica Lunder- https://www.facebook.com/UrbanEssenceEsthetics/
- Jocelyne Johnson- http://stylefixation.com/
- Nicole Pinsonneault- https://le-spa-medical-esthetics.myshopify.com/
Whether you’re an entrepreneur or a woman working in the corporate world, it’s important to build a team of professionals who can help you be the best version of yourself today, and set you up for success for the future.
